Some stories need to be heard and I'm listening!

I started this website because I am aware of the challenges associated with applying for benefits, and I am here to assist.

Helping veterans in beautiful Puerto Rico

I received a call informing me of a fellow veteran’s need. After packing our bags, my wife and I boarded JetBlue. This wasn’t a pleasure trip; however, we were able to see many of the wonderful attractions that the island had to offer.

As an IT professional, this is one of the things I do best

I have successfully assisted many veterans (at no cost) with claim and benefit information.

Disclaimer: I am not a VSO, and I do not represent the VA. That said, I freely share my viewpoints based on my interactions with the VA. If you are having difficulty navigating the VA website, I’d be happy to provide limited tech support (e.g., how to apply for benefits and how to file a claim).

V
eterans who are not tech-savvy and find the VA website daunting can benefit from my assistance as an IT specialist. I can help you set up an account at VA.gov and guide you through the process if you haven’t already.

Keep in mind that I am not compensated for my time, and I pay for all my expenses. Therefore, if you request assistance and my schedule allows, I’d be happy to help. You can also contact me: ron@travelingdogtags.com

Additionally, if you recognize me (I’ll be wearing my tags) as I stroll through life, you can always approach me and we can talk.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS IN PUERTO RICO

Back to Puerto Rico

Thousands of veterans are welcomed to the stunning island of Puerto Rico, but many may reside in rural areas and lack the means to submit claims or apply for benefits. I was there in May 2026 and met a few other veterans, so I can attest to this. Because I wear my dog tags, people recognize me as a veteran, and I spoke with many veterans on the island.

Location and reviews of our previous stays.

This is my honest and straightforward opinion, so you can make a wise choice.

Where we stayed in Puerto Rico

Luquillo Beach, Puerto Rico

Luquillo Beach is beautiful, and the water is warm. We stayed at C. 7, Luquillo, 00773, Puerto Rico (see photos), and our AirBNB was decent. The host, Andrea, was responsive and helpful. The location was quiet (minus the roosters) and comfortable. But in the event of a power outage, be ready because there is neither a generator nor solar power, and if you require a medical device (e.g., Bi-Pap or CPAP), the situation can be problematic. The host is not responsible for the power outage; however, it can happen due to the grid, so be prepared.

Our rooms were clean, and there are plenty of towels. Furthermore, there is linen to change sheets and a washer/dryer.
